Billie Jo...is she like you?

Look at Billie Jo's character. Do you think she is like you? Talk about the similarities and differences. Think about her family, home, school, friends, job, etc.

Yes, you MAY say she is pathetic. You just need to explain why. :)

Ther is one thing that Billie Jo likes me. We both write poetries, but she write English poetries and I creat ancient chinese poetries.
The diference between me and Billie Jo is that she can play piano pretty well, but I can't. I only can play a little er-hu. Seccond her father really want a boy, but my dad thik tha even boy or girl is good.

I think Billie Jo is nothing like me. First I wasn't born on the kitchen floor in my house, I was born in a hospital. Second, I wasn't borned with long legs, wide mouth and cheekbones like bicycle handles and freckle-faced,I was borned I like fine and cute I don't have freckle on my face . But there is somthing similar to me that is she play piano fiercely and I'm kind of good at playing flute.

If Billie Joe is really expressing herself through this romantic yet hard and crude journal, than I'll make this clean and clear to you: I am not one bit like this Billie Joe guy.
look, if you think that I'm simply discriminating the poor or trowing this annoying tantrum (like what i did with Walk Two Moons), i swear on my ancestor's names that it is not what you think it's like. If billy jo and her family really lived through the time of the great depression, then they'd know that there would be absoulutly no time for fake, phoney poems. the spaces between the
sentences
just
like that, extremly pecuible and irritating.
they say sometimes art just needs those blank spaces. take janis joplin for example: every note, every word she sings seems to truley drip emotion, they need those blank spaces to really make her understandable. that i respect with all my heart.
but billy jo's poems only seem to show her pride towards her skills and innosence. for one thing, she could be as critical as a crow.
her skills for piano aren't real. only used to reflect how pathetic thier lives are, and how lucky she is to have found a skill she could truley take part in. how jealous her mother has been towards her skills and how much credit she won from doing such.
all in all billy jo is only trying to boast.

I think I am completely different with Billie Jo. I am not as poor as him. I am not born in kitchin's floor. I don't play piano either. The most dis like thing is that I don't like to write poetries.

She was willing to challenge or practice, like piano, that's the important point that as same as my attitude. I thought I'm curious, willing to try out the challenges, and try my best to do it.(Except for the stuff of music) That is, the differences are music, I'm just like a idiot on the music world, but Billie Jo can do it well! That's the comparison between me and her. I'm willing to find out the new things, or challenge, but the ability of music is extremely different!

So far from what I've read in "Out of the Dust", I think Billie Jo is actually girl who has the potential to observe things well; she takes notice of everything around her, from every single little thing, and from every person she sees.
I think in my life there are some things in common with Billie Jo's character. First, obviously, we are all students. We try to make good grades to make our mom happy. Also, we write in our daily lives. But unlike Billie Jo (whom I think is almost possessed with poetry), I write down my little thoughts everywhere in almost every different form (not just poetry). There are many differences: my family do not farm (lol). Although my family is made up of hardworking people, but we do not farm. :) Second, I do not play the piano or any other instruments though I am thinking about learning some folk instruments like harmonica or guitar. Also, the main difference is that I got some "weird" habits. :P For instance, I always spend too much $$, and I know if Billie Jo is like me, her family would broke before the Great Depression... :D
then we might not be able to read all her pretty poetries. j/k lol.

I think that she loves to challenge herself to do something, practice and practice till she push herself to the tiptop. Just like her, i'm a kind of perfectionist also, for example, since i could write, i'll always try my best to write every words, i'll keep writing and erasing them until i've written them perfect.

Some parts, I think. For one thing, I enjoy writing poems as diaries (but in Chinese). And she seems to like to write down parts when ever she wants to. Althought, this makes poems seems not like some original ones but I (seems Billie Joe does too) think that we're just keeping it as memories so why not write down things you want to remember, not only just writing difficult and hard-to -read words. And yes, I really like to use spaces to make poems "alive".
But we still are different like she loves the piano, but I love ocarina (a little like flute) and drums, etc instramens making sounds by hitting.

I don’t think I am similar to her. First I don’t live in a place where the dust will just come and cause damage. And I am not a plowboy, my parents they have there own business. We don’t have to plant wheat and worried about the weather. Unlike Billie Jo’s parents, my mom and dad always encourage me to learn new things and try different things. I am appreciate that a lived in a great family and with the best family members.

I am not similar to her, because her actions is very strange, and I think I'm just a "normal" person.
And I don't need to worried about those weather or dust. So nothing similar.

I think there's lots of differences between Billie Jo and me. First, like Linda, I usually spend much money on strange things too, and that would be a disaster if I was born during the Great Depression...XP Second, of course, I'm not a plowboy and I wasn't born in a kitchen. Third, Billie Jo had a great observation against everything besides her and she really had the ability to write poems(I didn't agree with "the illusionist"). I wouldn't observe every details in my life like her, I think that would be too exhausting. And hated to wrote poems, that's another exhausting work for me. Forth, Billie Jo loved to play piano, but for me...it's just not so interesting. Also, Billie Jo was talented in playing piano(again, I didn't agree with "the illusionist"), but I'm not. The great irony was that my mom tried to force me to play piano but Billie Jo's ma tried to keep her fron play it.
But there's still a similarity between me and her, I think we both act kind of like a boy. Sometimes I think that the thought of girls were so weird = =...

I think the similarities bewteen Billie Jo and me is that she and I both like to play paino. Her mother requests to her to be very good and so did my mother. The only diffence bewteen Billie Jo and me is my family doesn't really care that if I am a boy or not.

I think Billie is a very very outstanding piano player, because I had learned piano when I was grade 1 in primary school. But because my fingers are really awkward, every time when I started to play the piano, I would make my teacher angry. Even though I had praticed for many times, when I saw my teacher, I would become nervous then I would make a big big mistake to let my teacher feel unhappy. So that's why I admire her very much. And I think the similar between she and I is that sometimes I am like a boy, too, because my father also wants a son to help him partake in some jobs such as fixing electric equipment or fabricating furniture, but he only gets two daughters, so I will need to help my father in many ways. About school, according to the book, it seems that there is a taecher that teaches students play piano specially, but we don't have a teacher just like that. We only have those who teach about "music" (It's includ many things like seeing an opera, singing, learning about musicians and so on.) Maybe we can have a teacher just like that so I can learn piano again! But I need a teacher that won't angry easily... And the same thing between the school in the book which Billie goes and CMS is that both of them are LOVELY SCHOOLS!!!!!

I think there are too many things that we are unlike, but the most different thing between Billie Jo and I is that she can insist one thing and i can't. She insist on playing piano even though it is because her mother. I like to do a lot of things but there is nothing can let me really insist. I think this is what I need to learn in Billie Jo.
The same thing between us is that we both love our mother.

I think there is one thing that Billie Jo like me. The thing is that she play piano well, I have learned piano in the elementary school, but not pretty well.
The difference between us is that I don't like to write poetries. I think there is one more; I wasn't born on the kitchen floor in my house.
