Billie Jo comes into contact with the piano is because of her mother. In this regard, Billie Jo also worships her mother pretty much. After the accident that caused her mother died, the piano seemed to be the only link between Billie Jo and her mother.
I think Billie Jo like s playing the piano, but because the injured hand, she can no longer played freely as before. I think if you like to play but you can not because of your injury, it must felt very painful. Just like when she played for Arley’s performance, she wants to perform well, she didn’t want others to say that she plays like a cripple; but she just can’t do it well.
I think maybe she was frustration and defeat of playing piano!
~ Claire :D
Billie Jo has the eager to play the piano after the accident. Although she can hardly play after the accident, and every single note that she played hurted her hands badly, she still forces herself to play the piano. I guess the piano is the only connection between Billie Jo and Ma. Almost every part of Billie Jo's body is like her father, except her hands. She had the hands of her mother's. Playing the piano is the way for her to remember her mother, to comfort herself from the sadness of death and the threat of the dust storm, and to prove that she can still play after the accident.
Billie Jo used to like playing the piano before, though I think she still loves it now, her injured hands made playing piano not so enjoyable anymore. The sounds that her hands played are not so smooth and beautiful anymore, I guess this made her feel very frustrated. But, I still think that she is very passionate about playing the piano. Although her hands hurt and it's painful for her to actually play the piano, she still plays the music in her mind. This shows that she still likes to play the piano.

I think her mother was the connection between Billie Jo and her piaon. Her mother loved to play paino, so did Billie Jo. She likes playing paino very much, yet her injury hand make her feel pain all the time when she was playing the paino. About the competition, she won the third prize. During the competition, at the first part of the song she play "Bye, Bye, Blackbird" she feel that she was playing it with her elbows, but at the middle she think that's became better. I think she enjoy in it, at p.132 she wrote "I forgot I was eveb playing in front of the packed Palace Theare...till after when the clapping started..."
Yet after this, her hand hurt terrible, she couldn't play it well at Arley's show, she play like a cripple.
I think she loves to play paino, she knew that her hands were too hurt to play paino, so she play the note in her head, it show her really like it and enjoy it!

The relationship with the piano is just like Billie and her mom, she likes piano very much, willing to challenge and show the abilities to the piano, and the passion of piano is great for Billie.
But something awful happened when she attened the piano competition, what's that? She started feel that her hands were hurt. That's not a good thing when you attend any kinds of contests ot races, everyone know that's not good for themselves. But Billie still play it, she forgot the pain, because of the applause, that's the great way to courage players, as Billie felt that, she would willing to continue to play, and add on her passion of piano, she would play very well!
I thought she would play piano in the future, because of the passion of piano. If you have passion of something, you will do it harder and harder, try your best to do it, that's what I thought!
I think the connection between Billie Jo and piano is her mother. Billie Jo had a lot of feeling when she played piano, she thought of her mother when she played it,but she also felt painful because her finger were hurted. She tried hard to win the competition, she didn't want to give up piano. At first, she had no confidence because she felt painfull, but then, she forgot about everything, the pain ,the competition...She played for herself! At the end, she won the 3rd place.
I think Billie Jo enjoyed playing piano. She had passion about it,and it's one of the way she missed her mother.I also think think she was recalcitrant, the more difficult it was,the more she want to get over it!
I think the relationship Billie and the piano is just like Billie and her mother. She enjoyed to play it very much. At first, she was afraid because it felts painful, but soon she began to forgot about it. And she even won the third prize!
I think she may continue to play the piano in the future. It connected her and her mother's relationship.
I think piano is the only connection between Billie and her mother after mom died. I know playing piano was painful for her. It will remind her about her mother and she might feel guilty of her mother's death.
Playing piano was no longer easy for her. Not only because of her injured hand but also the remind of her mom. Although it was tough for her to play piano, I think she still like to play piano and would keep playing.
After Billie Jo’s mother died, she was more determined of playing piano. The piano of her mother became the support of her life. She wanted to find comfort in the piano, and her feeling of piano seemed stronger then ever. Unfortunately, her hand was hard injured and she couldn’t play piano anymore. She couldn’t control her finger, and also the feeling of piano. The more she wanted to play piano, the harder she could play. Her heart might be struggling when she wanted to play piano. How she desired to play it and how hard it is for she to play! I think Billie Jo wanted to enjoy playing piano very much, but the wound on her hand didn’t allow she to play. When she played piano, the pain on her hand hinders she from playing piano. What a sorrowful thing!
I think before the talent show at the Palace, Billie Jo was desperate in playing piano, or, she was desperate to win back the respect the admiration toward her. After the accident maybe people looked at BillieJo as a cripple, like she couldn't achieve anything anymore. I think Billie Jo hated that, she can't ignore people look down on her, and more importantly, she can't forgive herself being so useless. So she wanted to get back her dignity, to prove that she still can do many things.
During the competetion at first I think she was nervous about her playing. We can see it from that she supposed that "everyone" came to the competition. But at the end of her playnig, as she wrote, she drop right inside the music and forgot she was even palying. So I think she still enjoys playing piano. After the competition, her hands was in great pain. Then I think, maybe she still has the passion in playing piano, but the truth is, her hands just wan't able to play.

I think that Billie Jo still like to play the piano very much.
In page 127, she went to join a musical contest. Before the play, she was so scared that she wouldn't play it well and her hand shake because of the fear about her Ma's death and her brother's death. But she play well during the play even though she play it bad at first. I think it shows that she didn't fear about the accident anymore. I also think that the piano encouraged her.
It made her become brave. The piano also became the important thing to communicate with her Ma.

Billie Jo started to play thepiano because of her mother. The piano is very important to Billie Jo. After the accident, the piano became the only way to conect her mother. Her hand was injured in the accident, but she kept playing the piano. Although she can not controled her finger now, she wanted to play the piano. I know she wanted to play it well, but it was a hard challenge for her finger.
Billie Jo played piano because of her mother. Then she loved to play piano.
After the accient, the piano was the connect from Billie Jo to her mother. She still loved to play piano after the accident. We can know it at the page that Billie Jo agreed to play in the performase. But her hands were hurt in the accident. The injury made her can play the piano as well as she have done before.
I think she would play piano again after her hands were heeled.
Eventrough her hand is not going to play piano well, she still try hard to play. Playing piano means a lot to Billie, that is what her mother like, so when her mother died it become a thing that can let her think about her mom and help her mother to do what she want to do. And also she is a prodigy of playing piano, so I think she might be helpless that she can't play it well anymore, just like her mother is not going to be with her anymore. When she is playing, she feel pain, she might still enjoy playing, but I think she feel more sad when she is playing.
I think Billie JO played piano because she love her mother, even if playing piano was hard for her, she still playing it.
I think when she is playing, she feels pain, it let her remind about her mother and she might feel guilty of her mother's death.
In the story the thing that related Billie Joe and her mom was the piano. Billie Joe’s mom could play piano very. So Billie wanted to play the piano as good as her mom.
But after the fire accident, Billie was injured and she could hardly play the piano. When Billie played the piano she started to think of her mom. Above all, she still loved to play piano. And she won the third place in the competition.
The thing that moved me was that she overcame her pain and kept doing the thing that she loved.
While playing the piano, i think her mind was complicated, she wanted to perform well, but the condition of her hands made her couln't play anymore. No matter how she loved piano, i think that little by little, playing it would become sorrowful and a suffuring for her, maybe not only the pain of her hands, but also the reminder of the terrible accident. I don't really think she would enjoy it so much like before.
Piano was the connection betwwen her mom and herself. She worshiped her mom quite a lot. I think this part is similar as Sal in WTM. I think she felt joyful and free about playing. It was a way to release her preasure and it was a hope to her. She could be free during playing and be hopeful. And as I said, it was a connection between Ma. I think when she was playing, she might reminded Ma and was with her in her imagination again. But when she played, her hands hurt. I think it was quite depressed and painful beacause she couldn't do what she liked to do freely. And I think it might make her feel she was much more like her father but less like Ma. I think it might make her feel more painful. But I think she would still enjoy playing because after the accident, she joined a competition. On p.128 said "It's the playing I want most, the proving I can still do it." And on p.132 it said,"I forgot I was even playing in front of the packed Palace Theatre. I dropped right inside the music and didn't feel anything." It shows that she still enjoyed playing piano as before.

Just like the apple tree, I think the piano represent Billie Jo's mom. After Billie Jo's mom died, Billie refused to play piano. I think because her mother is the "motive" to drive her playing, now her mom was died, Billie lost her motive, there's no one who Billie long to play for.
But thankfully, Billie finally face the reality and started playing again, and even won a price. Afterall piano is her favorite activity, when she played, it reminded her ther wonderful time with her mom.

She loved to play the piano. The piano may represent her dead mother. It connected with her and her mother. Her hands were hurt. She was unable to play any more. It was too difficult for her. Although she wanted to do it well, her hands let her be disappointed. She really wanted to play the piano. The piano was so important to her. I hope she could find her confidence back again.
Billie Jo wanted to play the piano after the accident even when it hurt while she play the notes. One of the reason that she force herself to play the piano after the accident is because of the connection between Billie Jo and the piano is kind of related to the relationship between Billie Jo and her mother when ever she play the piano she think of her mother, it is a way to remember her mother. Although playing piano is going to felt painful but billie Jo still wanted to play so I think that this shows that she still enjoy to play the piano.
