"The giant on the wheelchair!" That's we called for him. Alought he got the serious injured, he still want to do some better policies to U.S.A. Like the finacial policies, to rescue the crisis, like the bad environment of Great Depression, lpts of banks and the insurance companies went bankrupt, because the condition of U.S. economy was getting worse, and these finacial agency invested lots of products, like stocks or bonds, and then, companies were callapse, and lots of worker lost their jobs. Like Billie's family, they can't earn enought income for them, and they can't harvest well, cause the prices was abscending. Roosevelt wanted to solve these difficulties, to encourage U.S.'S ecomony, he compiled his wisdom and his thought, to plan the way to solve problems, and then, he won the trust of people. The another problem is that the attack of pearl harbor, he announced that U.S. would fight with Japan, that's the serious affect of world, if he hadn't announced that, we may had ruled by Japan for the long time! That's the afterwards in the world situation, and encouraged the economy, he was the truly giant in the world!

From 1929~1933, the most serious problem of economy in US occured. Roosevelt did many things to help the economy grow. He declared a bank holiday for 4 days in 5,3,1933. To prevent from the closing of the bank. After that, he forbid the hoarding of gold. Later, he forbid to export the gold. June 16, 1933, he sent Congress a record number of bills which passed easily. He also forbid to hire children to be a worker. Roosevelt did not raise income taxes before World War II began, however raising taxes were also introduced to fund the new Social Security program in 1937. He wanted to solve the problem of The Great Depression. And he really did it!

Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the US. He was elected as the President for four terms in office and had helped America got out of the Great Depression by a sequence of programs -- the New Deal. He gave out the programs with three goals (according to wiki): Giving work(relief), reform of business and financial practices, and recovery of the economy during the Great Depression. I think this is just the main things that need to be done; saving the country. He started out with the basic needs of the people, and that helped them gain back their hope which later became a success. In the book Billie Jo also talks about FDR about things he said to the country (and to the farmers). He is an importance to the book because it shows how he did and say to try to help the country, and how poeple act toward his offer. In the story, Billie Jo kind of doubted about the President, and I think it's because maybe all she thinks about is the weather (dust storms, etc.) and the land. But later, which I think is very important, is that Billie Jo showed the President's significance by naming her brother Franklin. It might not sounds very special, but I belived that not many people would name their babies after a president who's "normal" or only "good", but extraordinarily great.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt is the greatest America president in the twentieth century. He became the president in 1932, when America was in a serious crisis. The Great Depression made many people unemployed, after he became the president, the unemployment rate began to lower. He performed New Deal, which were made to rescue the economy. The government intervened the market and stabilized the market. The government estimated banks that were able to work and eliminated banks that were in danger. He encouraged people to trust banks and this really help the hard situation. During the World War II, he led America win the war.
Roosevelt solved the Great Depression and the problem of World War II. He had won the faith of people. He served as America President for twelve years, and this is the longest term ever.
Roosevelt was not only a politician, but also a humanitarian. He founded an association for people who are paralysis, called Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation. In the novel, people liked Roosevelt very much, they thought Roosevelt as their savior.

In the book, we can see the a lot of FDR's policies, such as, on p.26, Daddy is thinking of taking a loan from Mr.Roosevelt and he doesn't need to pay it back till the the crop grows. Also, Billie Jo named her little brother Franklin, just like the president. I think this means that she thinks FDR is a very oustanding person, or else she wouldn't name her brother Franklin. President Roosevelt was really the hope for the people in the 1930s!

At 1933, lots of people had no home. Franklin Delano Roosevelt announces the “New Deal” to solve the economy problems.
Like the Billie's family, they don't have enough money. And he had announced that U.S. would fight with Japan because of the problem of pearl harbor. It let us for not ruled by Japan. I think he is not only a good president, but also like a "savior".

Being the 32nd president of the USA, Franklin Delano Roosevelt did some things very import for the world.
1.Made some new rules about the Great Depression.
If he didn't make up those rules, I think all the world would afect by the Great Depression. Hopefully, he finally solve the problems.
2.Led the USA army to won WW2.
It is important for the USA to won the war. If they didn't beat Japan, the war won't have an end, and Taiwan would be a part of Japan.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt who was elected by a huge majority in 1932. He was a charismatic speaker who was from Democratic governor that rescued the country from the Great Depression. He had many political abilities to rule the country about the unprecedented events. Roosevelt didn't give up althought he had been struck by polio as an adult.I think he was so great that we should learn from him.

The New Deal really took stronge influence to the economy. Though after the "Bank Holiday" the number of banks that opened their doors was less than the number that had been open before,everyone acknoledged to Franklin's ability.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt is the 32nd President of the United States. He has both made great contribution to economy and the people. He had also joined the World War 2, he attacked Japan, or else maybe now we are still ruled by Japan. He done many things that helps people such like forbid to hire children to be a worker, he did not raise taxes when the people are poor. He did help many family such like Billie’s family which doesn’t earn lots of money and have a hard time. Perhaps he is a hero for the people at that time.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt (served 1933~945) was not only the 32nd president of the U.S. but also the only president that was elected to four turns. This man wasn't been elected for nothing, he solved the biggest two economics problems - the Great Depression and WW2.
As the Great Depression, he changed the laisser-faire economic way the 31st president Herbert had made. He use the power of the country to meddle in the economic called the New Deal. Including: the reorganization of the finance order, increases the public expenditure, the relief of unemploys, strengthens policies and competitive power. The New Deal let the U.S. get rid of the economic crisis successfully.
In WW2, his famous "stove talk" he helped the Allies fight the antifascist war, and he also helped China from Japan's invasion.
In 1941 he give out the "Four Freedom (Freedom of Speech, Worship, Want, and Fear)" viewpoint to resist the Fascism. And he also signed "the Atlantic Charter" with British Prime Minister Churchill. When December 7th, 1941 the Pearl Harbor Incident erupted, he declared war to Japan, and initiated the United Nations manifesto and let the road to the future organization in his dream - the UN.
F.D.R. is not only the longest president served in America (12 years) but also one of the greatest presidents, too.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the America. He was a famous president, because he did many important things for America. One is that he made some new rules about the Great Depression, and the other one is that he won the world war 2 for USA, this is the important war for Taiwan, because if he didn't do this, Taiwan might be role by Japanese now.
As we recall him, both a hero in America and some Asian contries, Franklin Delano Roosevelt is probably the most important presidentin history.
He played a main role in both the Great Depression and World War Two.
During the Great Depression, he took serious notice of how American economics fail and how dissapointing the employment was. He donated seeds to the pesants and gave out job oppourtunities like fly kisses. These small steps helped the American economy slowly crawl up from the beat down.
As we said in prior, he also lead America to fight in World War Two, after the Japanese vermins attacked the Pearl Harbor, China vowed to battle until the invaders had their shiney butts kicked. Roosevelt saw the opening in when Japan weakened (after a horrible upgrade which transformed Japan into one of the world's strongest countries) America took part in the war and that is how World War Two begun.
Here all Chinese and Taiwanese must mourn for the great president Roosevelt. If he hadn't been our back up in the World War, ruthless Japan would have tormented our lives for a long term.
